Cyclotexx: Turning used textiles into paper of the future

A project that we implemented together with the textile recycling company Soex shows just how much potential there is in seemingly useless waste materials. At its heart: Cyclotexx, an innovative paper - made from what nobody actually wanted any more.

Heavily damaged cotton jeans are also recycled in the recycling process for used textiles. The shredding process produces a fine dust that collects in large quantities in filters. For most people, this is a waste product - for Soex, it's an exciting question: can it be turned into something else?

That's how Engelkarton came into play. Our task: to develop a paper made from precisely this denim dust. After numerous tests and the addition of recycled waste paper, Cyclotexx was created - a particularly tear-resistant, robust paper that differs significantly from conventional paper thanks to the cotton fibers it contains.

Cyclotexx is particularly suitable for mailing envelopes, for example, which have to withstand stress and need to be as environmentally friendly as possible. A nice side effect: the material is available in different colors - depending on the mixture of the original materials.

We at Engelkarton are now working on the next stage: Cyclotexx 2.0. Our goal: a paper that can not only recycle jeans dust, but also entire used textiles - and thus make a real contribution to reducing the global mountains of textile waste.

For us, Cyclotexx is more than just a product - it is an example of how waste can become a resource if you think in a new way.
